Upcoming Game Jam in Support of Equal Pay App Challenge

Participants of the Equal Pay App Challenge,

The Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab, a research collaboration between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Interactive Digital Media R&D Programme Office hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore, will be hosting a Game Jam on March 24-25 to support the Equal Pay App Challenge. Over 40,000 game developers will be notified and many are expected to participate.

About The Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab:

A research collaboration between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Interactive Digital Media R&D Programme Office hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore. The lab experiments with the theory, aesthetics, culture, craft, legacy, technology and play of games, developing, sharing, and deploying prototypes, findings and best practices to challenge and shape global game research and industry. GAMBIT builds collaborations between Singapore institutions of higher learning and MIT departments to identify and solve research problems using a multi-disciplinary approach that can be applied by Singapore's digital game industry.

A game jam is a cooperative gathering of game developers to encourage experimentation and innovation. It starts at 9am on Saturday with friendly introductions, followed by a run-through of the rules, the theme, and the constraints. Participants then quickly come up with ideas and pitch them to everyone else. Once everyone has formed or joined a team, the groups split up for further brainstorming around the idea, and reconvene in a shared workspace with the other teams to start development.
